We have an article in this issue on the Rule of Eleven which, according to the Encyclopedia of Bridge, is “a mathematical calculation applicable when the original lead is the fourth highest.” It’s ironic this, as it turns out, is a rule! Try it. Look at any bridge hand that has a four-card or longer suit and lead fourth best. The rule absolutely works. Maxims, on the other hand, are different.
