The Department for Transport (DfT) has pledged to create an expressway of new road and rail routes between Oxford, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.
As part of the proposals, plans are in the pipeline to reopen the old 'Varsity Line' rail link between Oxford and Cambridge by 2023.
When it opens it will be the first time a rail link will operate between the two university cities since the line was decommissioned back in the 1960s.
