Flood is a common phenomenon of Indian monsoon specially in NE India, where it is associated with devastating landslide. IMD has forecast a normal monsoon in 2018.Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) reports that Excess extraction of groundwater is to blame for the 61% decline in groundwater level in wells in India between 2007 and 2017.
